Abstract

777,363. Endless belt conveyers. STUBBE, F. Oct. 8,1954 [Oct. 10, 1953], No. 29111/54. Class 78 (1). The load-carrying band of an endless conv eyer adapted to move along a curved path which may include curves in the plane of the band as well as curves in a plane at right angles to the band, consists of a rubber belt 2 to which are secured metal plates 3, the portions 4 of the belt between the plates forming transverse folds. The band is secured by screws 11 to an endless rubber driving member 5 provided with a wire cable core 10, the member 5 being guided along its upper run by sets of rollers 9, 9, 7 and along its return run by sets of rollers 37, 37 and 7 which engage its faces 8, 8, 6 respectively. The rollers are carried by members 28, 29, each member 28 being pivoted at 30 to a base 26 and each member 29 being adjustably mounted by screws 32 which are slidable in a slot 33 in the base 26. The members 28, 29 are secured together by an axle 35 having threaded ends receiving nuts 36, the axle supporting the roller 7. The sets of carrier members are secured together along the length of the conveyer by members 48, Fig. 2, connected by universal joints 49 to plates 50 secured to one of the members 28 or 29 of a set. The belt 2 is built up of detachably connected sections 13, 14, and the member 5 consists of sections 15, 16 interconnected by bayonet joints 17, 18. The member 5 may be provided with two additional faces 23, Fig. 6, which engage the sides of a groove 24 in its driving drum 25. In a modification (Fig. 7, not shown), the roller 7 is replaced by two rollers, one engaging the upper run of the member 5, and the other the lower run. In a further modification, Fig. 9, the roller support members 40 are pivotally mounted on a base 41 which is supported by rollers 43 on a fixed track 44, whereby the band may be inclined transversely of its length, the base 41 being secured in its adjusted position by a screw 46 which engages bores 47 in the track 44. Specification 698,839 is referred to.
