Abstract

776,671. Grinding tools. ROBERTSON, A. D. June 21, 1955 [ June 24, 1954], No: 18523/54. Class 60 [Also in Group XXII] A composite tool for machining resiliently-covered rollers comprises a tool shank 7 adapted for mounting in a lathe and carrying a filling element 10, an abrading element 14, and a brushing element 20, each of which can be used in turn when the shank is mounted in a lathe. The brush 20 is attached by resilient clamping jaws 19 to the element 14 which is in turn attached to the element 10 by a pair of guide channels 17, the element 10 being clamped in a recess in the shank 7 by a bolted plate 11. With the brush 20 and the element 14 removed, the filing element 10 is used and the the abrading element 14 and the brush 20 are added in turn to the shank so that the filing, abrading and polishing operations are carried out in sequence. The brush may be supplied with lubricating or polishing liquid and the element 14 includes a resilient pad 15 covered with sand-paper 16. The tool may be used for reconditioning the inking rollers of printing machines.
