Abstract
776,530. Strap fastenings. AMMAFOCO SOC. ANON. Dec. 20, 1955 [Jan. 14, 1955], No. 36500/55. Class 44. A buckle A, Fig. 1, for locking the straps of an underwater swimmer's harness, comprising a casing 1 which has peripheral apertures 4, 5 and 6 through which ring members 15 of elements 2 on the ends of the harness straps can be passed, is characterized in that it comprises a control member 23, Fig. 2, which is angularly displaceable and connected mechanically by a pin 7 with a locking-member 8 having at least three radial arms 9, 10 and 11, Fig. 1, provided at their outer ends with arcuate parts 12, 13 and 14, the lengths of the parts 12, 13 and 14 all differing so that the members 15 are engaged in the apertures sequentially. A fourth strap a is rigidly connected to the casing 1 and the member 8 is under the urge of a spring 22 tending to engage the parts 12, 13, 14 with the rings 15. Stops 20, 21 on the member 8 are engageable with a guide 17 fixed to the casing 1 and the member 8 can be retained in any one of four positions by means of a plunger 16, slidable in the guide 17 under the urge of a spring 18, engaging one of four notches 19a, 19b, 19c or 19d in the member 8. As shown in Fig. 1, each ring member 15 may be locked in the casing in turn, the length of the part 12 being at least three times the width of the ring 15, the length of the part 13 being at least twice the width of the ring 15 and the length of the part 14 being at least the width of the ring 15.
