Abstract
775,711. Twisting textile threads. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP ONDERZOEKINGSINSTITUUT RESEARCH. Feb. 24, 1955 [April 1, 1954], No. 5600/55. Class 120 (2). Two threads are formed into a cord by twisting them separately in the same direction and winding them parallel on a bobbin prior to the bobbin being rotated to feed off the threads under equal tension to a device mounted freely rotatably and coaxially above the bobbin, whereon the threads are separately tensioned before being united at a free plying point with a twist opposite to the original individual twists. The bobbin is mounted on a spindle to which an extension 5 is firmly, secured. The upper part of the extension 5 is frusto-conical with a central upstanding spindle formed with a groove to take spring-urged claws by which a body 9 is held on the extension 5 in operation. Pivoted on the body 9 is a flyer 10 through which the threads pass from the bobbin after having been given a few turns round each other. Above the flyer 10 is mounted a rod 14 for the separation of the threads before they pass around brake rods 16a, 17a, 18a, 19a, 20a, 16b, 17b, 18b, 19b, 20b on opposite sides of the body 9. During operation the body 9 is lifted from the conical surface of the extension 5 and rotation of the body 9 is then effected by the flyer 10. The brake rods 18a, 19a, 18b, 19b are secured to a cylinder 21 rotatable in the body 9 for adjustment of the thread tension. Instead of twisting together by threads before passing them through the flyer 10, the threads may be caused to adhere to each other when they are being wound on the bobbin 1.
