Abstract
775,646. Fusible cut-outs. LITTELFUSE Inc. Feb. 10, 1954 [May 18, 1953], No. 3921/54. Class 38 (1). A low amperage fuse comprises a pointed conductor 18 engaging a fusible element in the form of a thin film conductor 15 applied by vaporization to an insulating platform 14 formed in the nylon fuse body 11 by the intersection of a notch 13 with a bore 12. On overload, fusion of the film occurs about the point of engagement 19. The point of conductor 18 may also be coated with the thin film of fusible metal to improve the contact. Connection to the conductors is made by end caps 20, 21 held in place by metal coatings 16, 17, e.g. tin or copper sprayed on to the body. The film conductor is evaporated and condensed on to platform 14 and, while any metal may be used, the following are referred to for use in very low amperage fuses: bismuth, antimony, lead, tin. Specification 775,647 is referred to.
