Abstract

775,598. Girdles &c. GOURDON, D. A. Jan. 8, 1955, No. 650/55. Class 141. A girdle comprises front and back pieces having each of their side edges in the form of two concave arcs meeting in a peak, and side pieces 31, 32 having side edges of complementary shape. The front and back pieces are preferably stretchable vertically, while the side pieces have either horizontal or two-way stretch. The front piece 11, Fig. 2, preferably comprises two symmetrical sections 11a, 11b, the back piece being similarly formed. A crotch portion is formed by joining the corresponding bottom edges of the front and back sections, i.e. edge 12a of front section 11a is joined to edge 22b of back section 21b. If, on the other hand, the front and back pieces each comprise a single piece of material, an extra crotch piece is provided. The side pieces 31, 32 preferably have selvage top and bottom edges, although a hem allowance may be provided. Elastic strip inserts .50 may be provided near the upper edge of each side piece.
