Class 34(1) Apparatus for supporting a garment during drying or finishing has an opentopped hollow base 10 communicating with a flexible and permeable bag 22 for receiving a garment, a blower 12 for directing air from intake 16 across a heating coil 18 thence across a steam receiver 20 and through the garment, and a drawstring structure surrounding the bag intermediate its ends to enable the transverse side of the bag to be varied. The bag is carried on a neckpiece 34 forming part of a rotatable assembly including an annulus 38 with resilient gasket 40, upright 32 and backing plates 42, 54 against which the lower part of the garment is clamped by plate 44 and assembly 52. Drawstrings are provided at points 116, 118 and are each manipulated by means of a knob 126 which pulls on a cable 128. Steam from a suitable source flows through pipe 84 into vessel 86 of receiver 20 thence through coil 18 by way of pipe 88. Upon opening of a solenoid valve 96 in conduit 98 controlled by a pedal 106 steam flows into inner vessel 100 thence to perforated manifold 28 which is enclosed by a permeable bag 102 and spring 104. When pedal 106 is turned in the other direction it closes a switch to operate fan 12 and blow air through the bag. In a modification pedal 106 is replaced by a timing unit.
