Abstract

773,651. Valves. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AKT.-GES. Oct. 19, 1955 [Nov. 4, 1954], No. 29819/55. Class 7 (6). In a screened inlet valve which rotates to equalize wear, the screen 7 Fig. 1, is formed as a separate member which reciprocates with the valve but is prevented from turning therewith. In Fig. 1 the screen 7 forms part of a cap 6 which is urged against the valve head 5 by a spring 8 which is anchored at one end in a slot 10a in the valve guide 2 and is connected to the cap 6 at the other end to prevent it turning. In a modification the spring 8 is omitted and the cap 6 is provided with a tongue guided in a slot in the valve guide. In Fig. 3 the screen 7 is carried by a cap 16 slotted at 17 to form spring tongues 18 which engage in a groove in the valve stem, the cap being prevented from rotating by tongues 20 engaging in guide grooves in the cylinder head or valve guide. In a modification, Fig. 4, the cap 21 is sector-shaped and is attached to the valve stem by a split ring 22.
