Abstract

773,232. Mounting bodies on railway vehicles. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Nov. 8, 1955 [Nov. 26, 1954], No. 34377/54. Class 103(6). A railway vehicle of the kind having one or more wheel bogies pivotable relatively to the vehicle body about a vertical axis and arranged for the application of tractive or braking effort to at least one wheel axle, has between the body or main frame of the vehicle and a point adjacent an end of the bogie coupling means, shown as a vertical link 13, which operates to prevent or reduce vertical movement of the end of the bogie with respect to the body or frame while at the same time permitting effective pivotal movement of the bogie about a vertical axis. The link 13 may be connected at one end to the main frame 2 by a transverse pivot pin 14 provided with a resilient bush 15, and connected at the other to a lug 16 on the bogie frame 2 by a transverse pivot pin 17 provided with a spherical resilient bush 18. The wheels 9 are provided with leaf springs 8 connected at each end to a vertical link 10 which is connected to the lower end of a helical spring 11. The spring 11 at its upper end is connected either to the bogie frame or to a compensating beam 12, the beams 12 extending between adjacent springs 11 and being pivoted at their centres C to the bogie frame. The vehicle body is suspended from the bogie by swing links as described in Specification 626,798. Specification 641,123 also is referred to.
