Abstract
Fluorescent compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0772916/IV(a)/1> wherein R, R1 and R11 are substituted or unsubstituted aryl groups, at least one of which is attached to the pyrazoline ring by a methine chain (-CH = CH)n, where n is 1 or 2, are incorporated in cellulose derivative films to facilitate subsequent identification under ultraviolet light. A specific compound referred to is 1:5 - diphenyl - 3 - styryl - pyrazoline. From 0.0005 to 0.003 per cent by weight of the compounds may be used. The compounds may be added in solution to a solution of the cellulose ester used for casting, the same solvent (e.g. methylene chloride) as that used for the cellulose ester being employed.
