Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1124198/C2/1> where R1 is a phenyl or furyl group which may be substituted with halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or nitro, R2 is a straight or branched alkylene chain and R3 is an alkyl group which may be substituted with phenyl or an aliphatic acyl group. The compounds are prepared by reacting a compound of formula <FORM:1124198/C2/2> with a functional derivative of a compound of formula R3-O-R2-COOH (III) e.g. the acid anhydride or an acid halide. In examples, the compounds prepared are the -O- benzyloxyacetate, -O- ethoxyacetate, -O-a -benzyloxypropionate, -O-b -benzyloxypropionate, -O-g -ethoxybutyrate, -O- methoxyacetate, -O-b -ethoxypropionate, -O-b -methoxypropionate, -O-g -methoxybutyrate and -O- acetoxyacetate of S-benzoylthiamine, and the -O-b -benzyloxypropionate, -O-b -ethoxypropionate, -O-b -methoxypropionate, -O-g -ethoxybutyrate, -O-g -methoxybutyrate and -O- acetoxyacetate of S-furoylthiamine.
