Abstract
772,858. Tensioning wires. LOSINGER & CO., SOC. ANON. June 16, 1955 [June 16, 1954], No. 17355/55. Class 45. [Also in Groups X and XXX] A method for pre-tensioning and anchoring the reinforcement of a prestressed concrete structure 1, comprises securing the reinforcing wires 5 in an anchoring head 6, 7, at such a distance from one of their ends that end portions 5a protrude from the anchoring head a jacking device being passed over the end portions 5a and connected to one part of the anchoring head a nut 22 being finally screwed onto an external thread 6a of the anchoring head as soon as the jacking device is released. As shown the jacking device comprises an inner tubular wall 10 having at one end an inner thread 10a engaging an external thread 6b of the anchoring head. At its opposite end the tubular wall 10 is connected by a ring 12 to an outer wall 11 having handles 29. An annular pressure chamber is formed in the jack between the walls 10 and 11 an annular piston 20 being mounted for axial movement in this pressure chamber. Pressure fluid may be introduced into the chamber through an opening 17 leading to a groove 16 formed in the ring 12. A tubular extension 20a of the piston 20 rests on a distribution plate 4. On operating the jack the conical funnel 6 is pulled outwardly, the nut 22 being screwed onto the external surface of the funnel 6 to hold the anchoring head in position. The wires 5 are held fast in the funnel 6 by means of a conical wedge 7 which is pushed into the funnel by a piston 26 sliding within the wall 10 and acted on by pressure fluid admitted through aperture 25. After releasing the jack the wire end portions 5a are bent outwardly and sealed in concrete to form an additional anchorage. In a modification the external thread 6b is replaced by an internal thread a corresponding alteration being made to the adjacent end of the wall 10, or a connecting tube may be used. Alternatively the screw connection could be replaced by a bayonet joint. Also the piston 26 may be omitted and a selfcontained corresponding unit used for wedging the wires in the funnel 6.
