Abstract

772,793. Door-operating apparatus; stays. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Feb. 28, 1955 [March 16, 1954; Oct. 20, 1954], No. 5856/55. Class 65 (1). [Also in Group XI] Oven doors 43, 44, pivoted to brackets at the sides of the oven, are connected to a pin 56 carrying a roller running in a channel 54 by links 57, 58. The channel 54 is mounted on the outer top-plate of the oven, and the links 57, 58 project through slots in the front plate of the oven and are pivoted to the tops of the doors so that the doors swing simultaneously open or shut. Jaws 63, 64, spring-biased towards each other, carry rollers engaging notches in the ends of the links 57, 58 to hold the closed doors firmly against a gasket surrounding the door opening. In another embodiment, Figs. 7-10, not shown, a shield to protect wall surfaces from fumes from the cooker is projected above the doors as they are opened.
