Abstract
772,011. Silos. GRAEPEL; F. April 9, 1954, No. 10462/54. Addition to 745,215. Class 20 (1) [Also in Group XIII] The silo of the parent Specification embodying a perforated wall has a perforated centrally disposed tubular member connected with a blower for distributing air to grain or nther crops in the silo and a non-perforated member extending from the silo wall and over the perforated member for preventing drying and ventilating air escaping upwards through the silo. As shown in Fig. 3, warm air is delivered to perforated silo a through a perforated tube b and the top of the silo is closed by a sealing member comprising a tubular portion g closed at the top and a plate portion f extending to the silo wall. The sealing member f-g deflects air outwardly to wet grain on the silo wall after dry inner grain has been delivered from the silo and also scrapes wet grain off the wall during its downward passage, for which latter purpose the plate portion may have a serrated edge. A rubber ring h may be attached to the plate f and the tubular portion g may be hinged to plate f to provide a filling opening k (Fig. 6, not shown), when the sealing member is in raised position. The base of the silo is perforated to permit escape of air when the member f-g is iri its lowest position.
