Abstract

771,605. Boxes; packaging. CHRISTENSSON, O. W. June 13, 1955 [Nov. 22, 1954], No. 16952/55. Classes 18 and 94(1). The package is formed from a stiff blank, Fig. 1, with closing flaps 14 to 21 that are independent of each other and an inner liner 23 which prior to folding extends beyond said flaps when open, but has its opposed long edges seamed together to form two outwardly extending triangular double tabs 28, 29, Fig. 5, which are folded inwardly over the seam, the flaps 14 to 18 having a height corresponding to half the short width of the container and one long top flap 20 having a closing latch 22 increasing its height beyond that of the flaps 14 to 18. The mouth of the liner may be closed by an inverted V-shaped strip 30, Fig. 5, heat sealed into position, the strip having an extension 31 so that when the package is completely closed some of the extension 31 will remain exposed. A thread 32 may be included in the strip 30 to reinforce it as a tear strip and as a means for opening simultaneously the outer carton. The bottom of the package is closed by folding inwardly the flaps 15 and 17, and then folding the flaps 14 and 16 into abutting relationship and secured by adhesive to the flaps 15 and 17. The top of the package is closed by folding down the flap 18, then the side flaps 19 and 21, shaped as in Fig. 1, and lastly the flap 20, the closing latch 22 of which is tucked under the flap 18 as in Fig. 6.
