Abstract

771,050. Gear pumps. KALLE, K. T. Nov. 15, 1955, No. 32665/55. Class 110 (2). The pump is provided with a casing block 13, contacting resiliently a number of teeth of gearwheels 9, 10. The block has side cheeks 16, of soft material, such as rubber, which are pressed lightly, as by leaf springs 17, against the sides of the gears for sealing purposes. These are secured by screws 20 in the ends of tubes 18. Liquid enters the pump through an inlet 23, forced into a container 8, and delivered by way of an overflow pipe 7. In a second arrangement, Fig. 2 (not shown), the block 13 is pressed towards the tips of the gear teeth by a spring 32. The pump may be used for liquids containing suspensions and may be mounted in a closed casing, not in an open tank. The gears may be made of a steel alloy, or other hard material, and the block 13 of bronze, aluminium or various synthetic resinous materials. The gears may be of different materials, one of steel and one of " Nylon " or resinous material reinforced by a textile material. The block may be fixed and the gears resiliently mounted.
