[Also in Group XI] A metal, e.g. brass, sheathed type heating element 9 is clamped around a water storage tank 1 by a band 19, movement of the element and band circumferentially of the tank being prevented by the engagement of an edge 34 of a friction member 23 with the surface of the tank. The member 23 is connected by a link 22 and anchor 20 to one end of the band 19 and by spring tensioning means to the other end of the band, the tensioning means comprising a non-rotatable nut 32 slidably located in a retainer 28 for a spring 31 of which the tension is adjustable by rotation of a screw 26 passing through the friction member 23 and engaging the nut 32. The heating element sheath is flattened where it contacts the tank, terminals 14 and a thermostat T being provided for the two-element heating unit shown in Fig. 1.
