Abstract

912,025. Thermal switches. BUTLER Ltd., L. P. May 30, 1961 [June 22, 1960], No. 21862/60. Class 38 (5). A thermostat for use in aquaria comprises a channel-section insulating block 1 carrying a bimetallic strip 9 and a fixed contact 11, with which a contact 10 on the free end of strip 9 co-operates. A circular head-piece 12 integral with block 1 is threaded to receive a collar 20 having a flange 21 which serves to clamp a flange 18 of a glass tube 17 against the end face of head-piece 12. Tube 17 enables all but the head-piece 12 of the thermostat to be immersed in water. A screw 14 in a threaded bore 13 of head-piece 12 is secured to a disc 15 by which it can be rotated to press against a bent part of strip 9, as shown, to provide adjustment of the operating temperature.
