Abstract
768,742. Binoculars. ZEISS-STIFTUNG C., [trading as ZEISS, C. [Firm of]]. Nov. 22, 1954 [Dec. 10, 1953], No. 33672/54. Class 97(1) To ensure that prism binoculars shall rest against the wearer when suspended from the neck, the carrying strap is attached to the binocular at two points such that when the binoculars are suspended from the neck the centre of gravity thereof lies between the wearer and a plane through the second two points parallel to the plane passing through the optical axes of the binoculars. As shown the strap d', d<SP>2</SP> is attached to the binoculars by pas sage of the ends c<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>2</SP> thereof through slots b<SP>1</SP>, b<SP>2</SP> in a cross bar a'. The slots b<SP>1</SP>, b<SP>2</SP> are displaced from the centre of gravity s of the binoculars in a direction away from the observer, Fig. 2. Further the bar a' is preferably arranged below a horizontal plane through the centre of gravity when the optical axes of the binoculars are vertical so as to increase the tendency of the binoculars to rest against the wearer. The strap d', d<SP>2</SP> may be threaded through a rain guard extending over the oculars e<SP>1</SP>, e<SP>2</SP>.
