Abstract
768,734. Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure. DODGE & SEYMOUR, Ltd. Oct. 20, 1954 [Nov. 9, 1953], No. 30199/54. Class 102(2) [Also in Group XXIX] A container and dispenser for substances under gaseous pressure comprises a container 12, Fig. 3, with a cover 13 supporting a tubular valve body 16 housing a spring-loaded valve member 20 and a polyethylene operating head 21. The head 21 comprises a base member 22 having an annular rib 30 engageable in a complementary groove 31 in a rotatable cap member 23 which has an outlet 25 and a depending skirt 26 flexible enough to be pushed through a bore in the base 22 so that a lip 27 on the cap engages a shoulder 28 on the base. The groove 31 includes spaced recesses 33 which, when aligned with a like number of projections 32 on the rib 30 on rotation of the cap, permit the cap to be depressed and the lug 29 thereon to unseat the valve member 20. In a modification, the valve closure member 36. Fig. 8 comprises a block 37 of resilient material having spider arms 39 pressed into a rim 42 secured to the container cover 13<SP>1</SP>. In this case the depending skirt on the closure cap 23<SP>1</SP> has an extension 44 to engage and unseat the valve member and the outlet 47 is formed in the base member 22<SP>1</SP>. The valve outlet 25 may be fitted with a detachable spray nozzle 35, Fig. 7, and markings on the base and cap members will indicate when the valve is in its operable position.
