768,676. Protectors. FUSSELL, E. G., and CHAMPION, C. B. July 15, 1954 [July 16, 1953], No. 19763/53. Classes 17 (2) and 17 (3). A metal strip reinforcement 1 for moulded top pieces, heels or soles comprises a U-shaped portion 2, 3 and a bent back portion 5 all provided with perforations 9 to improve the keying to the moulded material. The reinforcement is incorporated so that at least two surfaces are exposed one at least being on the tread face. As shown the part 5 is exposed on the tread face round its edge but in a modification this part is omitted and the edges of the parts 2, 3 are exposed on the tread face.
