Abstract

768,607. Turbines. AKTIEBOLAGET INTERNATIONAL STAL CO. April 15, 1955, No. 10918/55. Class 110 (3). A steam or gas turbine having inner and outer casings 5, 6 enclosing working fluids of different temperatures, has a ring 8 bolted to the outer casing, a ring 10 carried by the ring 8 by means of radial pins 11, the casing 6 carried by the ring 10 by means of radial pins 12, the pins 11, 12 lying in pairs in the same bore with a heatinsulating plate 14 between them. Clearances are arranged between the ring 10 and the bolted ring 8 and casing 6 to allow of free radial expansion and to prevent the conduction of heat between the parts 6, 8. Heat radiation baffle-plates 13 may also be provided. The ring 10 is formed with relatively small areas in contact with the steam chest 6 and casing 5 to reduce the amount of heat conducted. The pins 11, 12 may also be bored axially to reduce their heat conducting capacity. Sealing rings 15 may also be provided.
