733,537. Elastic-fluid turbines. AKT.-GES. FUR TECHNISCHE STUDIEN. Aug. 12, 1953 [Sept. 27, 1952], No. 22264/53. Class 110 (3). In a housing for a gas or steam turbine comprising an inner casing 1, Fig. 1, and an outer casing 2, both of which can be divided in an axial plane, the inner casing is supported in the outer casing by a flange 12 having radial slots (not shown), and the space between the casings is sealed in the axial direction by at least two coaxially arranged rings 15, 16, the clearance between the rings being bridged by a corrugated sealing plate 19. The radial slots obviate thermal stresses in the flange 12. The flange 12 and the ring 16 both engage a slot 14 in the outer casing, and the ring 15 is attached to the inner casing by screws 18, Fig. 4. The rings 15 and 16 may be centred in relation to one another by three keys 20. Sealing medium at a pressure higher than that of the pressure at the highpressure side of the turbine is fed through a duct 24 to an annular slot 23 adjacent the ring 16. Spaces 8 and 10 are filled with insulating material. Holes 9, 11 ensure that the pressures obtaining in the spaces 8, 10 are the same as those in the inlet duct 5 and discharge duct 6 respectively. There may be more than two sealing rings, in which case the rings have radially overlapping offset portions.
