586,552. Gas turbines. BAUMANN, K., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Nov. 1, 1941, No. 14095. Drawings to Specification. [Class 110 (iii)] In a thrust-augmentor such as described in Specification 560,551, [Group XXVIII], one or each of the air blading stages is mounted on a foundation ring at the base of the blading which is carried by the turbine through the medium of an axially extending member. The member may be of re-entrant or swan-neck form and may be rigidly attached, as by riveting or welding, to the turbine part and foundation ring, or be articulated to them, or secured to them by radial tapered pins. One stage of the air blading may be combined with a turbine stage as a multiple tier structure. The foundation ring of the air blading may be made of a light alloy and be mounted within a protecting structure arranged to secure circulation of cooling air. Cylindrical extensions of the supporting members may provide heat shields. Specifications 583,111 and 586,559 also are referred to.
