Abstract

The invention comprises tetrahydrofurane derivatives of the formula <FORM:0768603/IV(b)/1> wherein R2 and R21 are alike or different alkyl groups containing from 1 to 3 carbon atoms; and R3 and R4 are like or different alkyl groups containing from 1 to 5 carbon atoms or R3 is such an alkyl group and R4 is hydrogen, or R3 and R4 are both hydrogen or -NR3R4 represents the residue of a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic compound containing an -NH group in the ring. Such compounds are obtained by reacting the corresponding tetrahydrofurane derivative containing a 4-chloro- or bromo substituent or having a 3,4-epoxy group with ammonia or the appropriate heterocyclic base or primary or secondary amine. In examples: (1) and (2) 2,5 - dimethoxy - 3 - hydroxy - 4 - dimethylamino-tetrahydrofurane is prepared by heating 2,5 - dimethoxy - 3,4 - epoxy - tetrahydrofurane and 2,5-dimethoxy-3-hydroxy-4-bromotetrahydrofurane respectively with dimethylamine under pressure. In a generally similar manner are prepared corresponding compounds having 4-diethylamino, piperidyl-(1), methylamino and amino groups, and 2,5-diethoxy derivatives with 4-dimethylamino, diethylamino and piperidyl-(1) groups.
