Class 75(4) An inspection lamp for illuminating and viewing the surfaces of engineering parts such as gas turbine blades d to discover cracks comprises a tunnel b with non- reflecting walls formed in a wooden casing b<SP>1</SP>, a concave mirror a, preferably silvered on the concave surface at the end of the tunnel, lamps c located in apertures b<SP>2</SP> so as to be shielded from the eyes of the viewer looking through the mouth of the tunnel and to illuminate the object d held near the mouth, and a screen f, preferably adjustable in height located so as to provide a suitable background to the reflected object image in the mirror and so as not to impede the view of the image. The screen f as shown is mounted on a wooden bar e adjustable by vertically slotted sidepieces e<SP>3</SP> and butterfly nuts e<SP>2</SP> secured to casing b<SP>1</SP>, the ends of the bar forming arm rests for the viewer. The lamps may be fed from a small transformer in the casing b<SP>1</SP> with their intensity controlled by turning a knob g.
