Abstract

775,493. Optical apparatus. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Julv 19, 1955 [Aug. 5, 1954], No. 22803/54. Class 97(1) An arrangement permitting inspection of a member at an obscure location comprising a transparent rod-like device having one end disposed at a convenient viewing position at which it can also receive ambient light for transmission along the device to provide local illumination at the obscure location at the other end thereof, light reflected from the member being transmitted through the device to enable viewing of the member to be effected. As shown the rod 4, preferably cylindrical, is mounted in the wall 2 of an opaque casing containing a rotatable disc 1 viewed through the rod by reflections in a prism 3. Light for illuminating the disc is transmitted by the rod from outside the casing. The rod may be replaced by a tubular member filled with liquid.
