767,462 Photographic cameras. VOIGTLANDER AKT.-GES. Feb. 10, 1955 [Feb. 18, 1954], No. 4038/55. Class 98(1) In a photographic camera in which the objective is mounted in a retractable tube 3, the shutter release member 5 is locked until the tube is fully drawn out and the locking and unlocking of the release member is performed by the axial movement of an abutment, which may be a flange 2, on the tube 3. In one form of locking, a notch 4 in the flange 2 abuts a bar 6 on the release member 5 until, as shown, the tube 3 is fully drawn out. The release button 5 can then be pressed in against the action of spring 7. The lock may be between a pin projecting inwardly of the camera wall adjacent the tube 3 and a notch in a transversely moving release member. The flange 2 releases the lock by sliding the pin out of the notch. The notch in the release member 15 may be engaged by one end of a pivoted lever 12, the other end of which is lifted by a lug 16 on the flange 2 when the tube 3 is fully drawn out. Tube 3 is prevented from rotating about its axis.
