Abstract

766,805. Bedside table. WHITFIELD & CO., Ltd., S. B., and WHITFIELD, C. G. Nov. 19, 1954 [Nov. 19, 1953], No. 32153/53. Class 52 (3). A bedside table is vertically adjusted by applying end pressure, by screw operated means, to a flexible member housed in a guide, thus causing telescopic legs to expand. As shown a table top A is attached telescopically to the legs D by the members C. Two coiled springs G are provided in the middle member B, such that their outer ends abut on C and their inner ends press on lugs K. The lugs engage in slots O on the member B and are attached to sleeves J threaded on a right- and left-handed screw thread H which is mounted in a guide substantially parallel to the horizontal section of B and is fitted with a handle L. The table may be of single pillar type or of such construction as to allow the use of only one spring.
