Class 52(2) In a bedstead of the kind comprising a frame 5 pivotally mounted on a base, manually operable means for tilting the frame consists of a longitudinally extendible unit pivotally connected between a point 7 on the base and a point 12 on the frame 5 spaced from the pivot axis of the latter, the unit comprising a pair of telescopically engaged tubular members 9, 11, a screw 14 supported on the member 11 and extending into the member 9, a screw threaded part 10 in the member 9 engaged with the screw 14, and a handle 16 for imparting relative movement of the screw 14 and the part 10 through the intermediary of a bevel gear.
