Abstract

Cellulosic fabrics, especially of linen, which have been made crease-resistant in known manner by insolubilization of a urea-formaldehyde or melamine-formaldehyde or mixed urea-formaldehyde-melaamine-formaldehyde resin therein, are further treated with a thermoplastic synthetic resin or resins. The thermoplastic resin may be a polymer of a vinyl or an acrylic monomer or a copolymer thereof, e.g. a copolymer of ethylacrylate and vinyl acetate, and may be applied in aqueous dispersion to the crease-resistant fabric, which may be dry or still wet after the soaping-off treatment following the insolubilization of the urea- and-or melamineformaldehyde resin. After application of the synthetic thermoplastic resin the fabric may be dried on a stenter at 80 DEG to 90 DEG C. Specifications 527,762 [Group IV], 686,330 [Group VIII] and U.S.A.
