Abstract
766,108. Facsimile recorders. CREED & CO., Ltd. March 25, 1955 [April 1, 1954], No. 8856/55. Class 40 (3). In a facsimile recorder, the paper is fed forward by a driving arrangement during the actual recording operation and a gearing mechanism is operated manually to continue the feed of the paper until a predetermined length has been fed to produce a message sheet of standard length. The paper 4 from a roll 1 is fed during the recording between a roller 7 and a roller 8, driven by a oneway clutch, to a shoot 11 and through a guide channel 14. The shaft 9 of the roller 8 carries a sprocket 15 connected by a chain 16 to a sprocket 17 on a shaft 18 to which a gear sector 19 is secured. A yoke 21 pivoted on a screw 25 and provided with handle 26 carries a toothed rack 27 and also a block 28 of a friction material which, at the end of the forward movement of the yoke 21, engages a knurled cylinder 31 on the shaft 18. During the recording operation, the sector 19 is rotated clockwise by the sprockets 15, 17 so that its teeth 191 engage the teeth of the rack 27, and when the recording operation is terminated, the yoke 21 is moved forwardly by the handle 26 so that the sector 19 via sprocket 17 and chain 16 rotates the roller 8 to feed the paper 4. At the end of the travel of the yoke 21, the teeth 191 come out of engagement with the teeth of the rack 27, and the engagement of the block 28 with the cylinder 31 brakes the rotation of the shaft 18. The roller 8 in its final position operates a switch which opens the circuit of the paper-feed motor.
