766,079. Shearing. SCHLOEMANN AKT.- GES. Aug. 5, 1954 [Oct. 5, 1953], No. 22807/54. Class 83 (4). In bar shears having upper and lower blades 4, 2, respectively, guided to reciprocate vertically, the upper blade 4 is connected by rigid members 6 to the bearings 7 of a crank-shaft 9 and has its downward movement limited by an adjustable stop 18 and the lower blade 2 is connected to the crank 8 and has its downward movement limited by a fixed stop 13. The bar 1 to be cut is fed on to the lower blade 2. The stop 18 is adjusted so that the head of a pin 15 secured to the members 6 engages the stop when the upper blade 4 is just out of contact with the bar 1 so that subsequent movement of the crank-shaft 9 causes the lower blade 2 to shear the bar 1 while the upper blade 4 remains stationary. Further cuts are made by oscillating the drankshaft 9.
