765,996. Aircraft wings. GOODYEAR AIRCRAFT CORPORATION. March 25, 1955 [Oct. 14, 1954], No. 8732/55. Class 4. A wing or rotor blade for aircraft comprises an envelope 1 of streamlined shape composed of plies of fabric material 2 reinforced at the leading and trailing edges by additional plies. The ends of the envelope are closed by formers of the required aerofoil section and in the embodiment described one former is shown attached to a root fitting for connection to the rotor head of a helicopter. A multiplicity of threads 4 of graded length connect opposite surfaces of the envelope to maintain the correct aerofoil profile and the envelope is inflated to a correct pressure through a valve in one end former.
