Abstract

818,403. Rotor blades. AEROTECNICA S.A. Oct. 31, 1955, No. 31105/55. Class 4. A blade for a rotary wing aircraft comprises a profiled leading edge spar member A and a profiled trailing edge spar B each formed at spanwise intervals with lugs 3 for attachment to chordwise ribs C of channel section. The root portions of the spars are drilled at 12, 13 and 14 respectively for attachment to a connecting member of the form shown in Fig. 17. A tip fairing connects the tip portions of the spars and it is apertured adjacent the leading edge for a bolt which is used to adjust the spanwise position of a balance weight located within a cavity in member A for the purpose of adjusting the tracking position of each blade . The spaces between the spars and the ribs are filled by blocks of a suitable filling material and the outer surfaces of this material are covered by doped fabric.
