Abstract
765,732. Jet propulsion plant. JENDRASSIK DEVELOPMENTS, Ltd. June 23, 1952 [June 25, 1951], No. 17948/54. Divided out of 765;730, [Group XXVIII]. Class 110 (3). [Also in Groups XII and XXVIII] The exhaust from the low pressure scavenge duct of a pressure exchanger (see Group XXVIII) may be used for jet propulsion. The highpressure stage comprises a closed duct system including a burner. The low-pressure scavenging is effected by removing some of the gas content from a cell of the pressure exchanger approaching the position in which fresh gas is supplied, and using this gas to encourage the scavenge flow. The cell is opened to the exhaust duct 28 before the fresh gas supply duct 24 is reached. The duct 28 may be formed with a nozzle 20<SP>1</SP> to induce the flow from the other cells. In a modification useful gas may be tapped from the cells intermediate the high- and low-pressure stages for assisting the scavenge flow. Specification 765,734, [Group XXVIII], is referred to.
