765,497. Tape dispensers. JOHNSON & JOHNSON'. Nov. 10, 1954 [Nov. 10, 1953], No. 32592/54. Class 18. [Also in Group VIII] A tape dispenser comprises a tape-supporting structure 45, 46 and a slot 50 therein at least as long as the width of the tape and transverse to the length of the tape 57 which is adapted to overlie the slot, and a cutting blade 55 having a serrated edge 62 adapted to slide into the slot 50 and extending at least the width of the tape, being disposed at an angle to the plane of the tape when in the cutting position for substantially the entire width of the tape. The dispenser 10 comprises a shell portion 11, 16 and a cylindrical lug 20 co-operating with a lug on a disc 12 to support the tape roll. A combined cutting blade and cover 15 is hinged to the part 16 of shell 11 and has lugs 56 which enclose a recess 47, the recess enabling the tape to be grasped by the fingers. The cutting blade 55 may be of recessed V-shape as shown in Figs. 1 and 10, arcuate, inclined as shown in Fig. 16 or projecting V-shape. The blade may be corrugated. In use the desired length of tape is withdrawn and bent downwardly in contact with the parts 45, 46 and cover 15 closed so that cutter 55 slides into slot 50.
