Abstract

765,203. Endless conveyers. ALVAN BLANCH DEVELOPMENT CO., Ltd. March 7, 1955 [June 21, 1954], No. 18104/54. Class 78 (1). Material is swept along an open-ended trough 11 by the lower run of an endless chain 12 having wings 20, the upper run being supported by guides 33 carried by inverted U-members 32 secured to the trough. The idler terminal chain sprocket 14 is adjustably mounted, being journalled between, the one ends of a pair of parallel arms 23 whose other ends are pivoted at 24 on brackets 25. These brackets are a adjustably secured to plates 27 fixed to the sides of the trough 11 by bolts 28, bolts 26 passing through longitudinal slots in the plates 27 and the position of each bracket being adjusted by a screw 29 working in a bracket 31. When the conveyer is to be operated, the arms 23 are moved anticlockwise about the axis 24 into a position in which they rest on an abutment 34 on the bracket 25 and apply a desirable tension to the chain, the wings 20 of the lower run in this position sweeping the contents of the trough from one end to the other. When it is desired to clean the trough, the arms 23 are returned to the position shown in Fig. 2 so as to provide sufficient slackness in the chain to allow the bottom run to be raised and supported on hooks 35 on the members 32.
