Abstract

In the porcelain-enamelling of aluminium or aluminium alloys the metal is cleaned, and oxide removed, by treating it with a phosphoric acid solution of 10 to 60 per cent concentration. The cleaned surface may be heat-treated at 975-1000 DEG F. before the enamel is applied.
