Abstract

764,406. Glass-working. CHARMOIS, C. H. Jan. 6, 1955 [Jan. 8, 1954], No. 458/55. Class 56 In an ampoule-making machine each blowpipe 48 is pivoted on a stationary vertical axis 52 parallel to the general axis 11 of the machine and lying between that axis and the members 19, 21 carrying the glass tubing on the turret 22, 23. The blowpipes are all controlled by a cam 55 coaxial with the general axis and acting on the rollers 54 offset from the pivots 52. The pivots are carried by an annular member 43 which is held against rotation by coacting members 46, 47 but which can move vertically with the sleeve 27, on which it is rotatably mounted, when it is necessary to raise or lower the blowpipes. Vertical movement of the sleeve 27 is controlled by the fork 30 and operating rod 40 and knob 42. The blowpipes are fed by short flexible pipes 57 from a main 58 which is supported by the same radial arm 34 that carries the locking member 47 and the fork 30 and its operating mechanism. Each blowpipe may be independently adjusted vertically at 49, 50.
