Abstract

763,616. Hand rails. MUDD, D.P. May 12, 1954 [Nov. 18, 1953], No. 32011 /53. Class 45. Two hand rail sections 3 are interconnected by a coiled spring 1 screwed to spigot connectors 2 which are shaped as shown. The connectors are made of malleable cast iron, steel, bronze, aluminium or aluminium alloys and are formed with grooves 8 and, if desired, a bore 12. Internal projections for engaging the grooves 8 are formed in the sections 3 as by punching, the collars 6 of the connectors 2 being provided with notches 11 to indicate the position of said grooves. The planes passing through the axis of each connector and through the centres of the grooves 8 may intersect one another at angles of 60, 90 or 120 degrees. Spring sections and connectors having different diameters can be provided for use with rail sections of different sizes. The spring 1 may be provided with a polyvinyl chloride sleeve.
