Abstract

763,570. Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure. RISDON MANUFACTURING CO. Dec. 21, 1954 [May 13, 1954; June 22, 1954], No. 36940/54. Class 102(2) [Also in Group XXIX] A valve for a liquid spray dispenser comprises a resilient valve closure member 26 enclosed within a rigid housing 35, a hollow valve stem 30 passing through the housing and having its lower end held within the closure member, at least one passage 46 through the wall of the valve stem and normally sealed by the closure member, a flange 33 associated with the stem and having its lower surface contacting the upper surface of the closure member and its upper surface contacting the valve housing at 36, the valve being opened by angularly displacing the stem to deform the closure member and remove it from sealing one passage. Fluid, e.g. an aerosol, passes from the eduction tube 50, through the valve into an expansion chamber 47 and through a nozzle 42 in a knob 40. In modifications the knob has a lateral handle and a lateral nozzle and contains an internal peg which either partially closes the top opening of the chamber 47 or enters into the chamber whereby a restriction and second expansion chamber in the knob is formed for further breaking up' of liquid particles.
