Abstract

763,382. Carburetters; valves; lubricating passages. SOLEX. June 22, 1954 [July 10, 1953], No. 18304/54. Classes 7 (2), 7 (3) and 7 (6). [Also in Group XXVI] A carburetter especially for industrial vehicles includes a centrifugal governor 14 fixed on the induction pipe of the carburetter the governor controlling a movable element 6 slidable along the rotation axis of the governor this movable element being connected with the carburetter butterfly valve 4 which valve is linked by a lost motion connection with the butterfly valve control 26 so that this control is always capable of displacing this butterfly valve in the closing direction but so that in its turn the governor is always capable of displacing the butterfly valve farther in the closing direction the rotation axis being substantially orthogonal with the axis of the butterfly valve and the movable element being substantially in alignment with its point of connection with the butterfly valve. Thus the operator cannot open the throttle valve beyond the maximum degree allowed by the governor. When the engine reaches the limit speed the governor partly closes the throttle valve. Abutments 29, 30 on a sleeve 28 operated by the accelerator pedal limit displacement of the throttle valve. The governor is driven at a speed proportional to that of the engine. A spring 31 is weak as compared with the spring 19 and is adapted to exert upon the throttle valve when it is at the beginning of its closing stroke a torque in the closing direction this torque being maximum when the throttle valve is fully open and then quickly decreasing so as to become zero before the throttle valve reaches its closed position. Air from the crank case may be sucked into the casing 10 for lubrication purposes. The casing may be adjustable. The disc 8 may be of light metal.
