Abstract

763,236. Jet-propulsion nozzles. ROLLSROYCE, Ltd. Feb. 19, 1954 [Feb. 19, 1953], No. 4740/53. Class 110 (3). The inner wall of the jet pipe of an internalcombustion turbine engine is coated with aluminium, chromium, cobalt, platinum, or silver, or an alloy having a base of one of these metals to reduce the infra-red radiation from the jet pipe. The coating is preferably of commercially pure aluminium and may be deposited by means of a spray gun. The coating (which, depending on its material, may oxidize) may be left rough so as thereby to reduce the reflected radiation.
