Abstract

1,154,276. Spray-coating with molybdenum,- bronze alloy. MORRIS MOTORS Ltd. March 26, 1968 [April 22, 1967], No. 18610/67. Heading C7F. A metallic friction face is produced on an article having a facing composed of a light metal, i.e. Al or Mg or light metal alloy by conditioning the facing by grit- or sand-blasting, metalspraying on to the conditioned surface a flash coating of molybdenum, and then metal spraying on to that a thicker coating consisting of a mixture of equal parts by volume of molybdenum and bronze. The flash coating of Mo is approximately 0.002 inches thick, and the molybdenum / bronze coating is at least 0À02 inches. The coating is useful for the clutch face of an engine flywheel.
