Abstract
PURPOSE:To economically form a civitation reistant sprayed coat having superior endurance by plasma spraying Al2O3 of a specified grain size upon a surface where cavitation will occur. CONSTITUTION:A cavitation resistant sprayed coat of Al2O3 is formed on a place where cavitation will occur, e.g., the outside of a wet cylinder liner for an internal combustion engine. In order to form the coat Al2O3 of 800-1,500 mesh grain size is plasma sprayed at 10-20 g/min feed rate using Ar gas of 33-48 l/min flow rate. By restriciting the grain size of Al2O3 to such a specified range, a cavitation resistant sprayed coat having superior endurance can be formed with superior spraying efficiency at a low cost.
