762,952. Shaping pottery. MALKIN & CO.. Ltd., F., ABBERLEY, M. W., PARKER, S. T., and ELLIS, A. G. May 20, 1954 [May 21, 1953], No. 14254/53. Class 87(1) In a pottery turning machine in which a cup &c. W is supported on a rotary suction chuck C, shaping is effected by a tool 55, 56 or 70 which is moved in an arcuate path past the rotating work. The tool 55, 56 for preliminary shaping is in two parts and is mounted on an arm 40 which is swung about a pivot 41 by a cam 48 and lever mechanism 45, 49a. The arm 40 is coupled to a second arm 60 which carries a final shaping tool 70 by a rod 61 and lever 62, pivoted at 63, to impart to the arm 60 a larger and faster swinging movement. The machine shown is of the turret type, and the work after final shaping by the tool 70 is moved to a station 54 where its upper edge is trimmed by a tool 74 and its bottom by a tool 73, these tools being carried by arms 76, 75 respectively controlled by a double cam 81.
