726,738. Boring machines. DILTS, C. E., and HOERN, J. H. May 19, 1953, No. 14056/53. Class 83 (3). A boring and turning machine comprises a tool-holder 45 pivoted to a spindle 34 and contacted by a push-rod 33 sliding in the spindle to rock the holder against resilient means 43, the push-rod having a head 31 journalled in a slide 24 controlled by a rotary cam B. The spindle is rotated by a motor H. The cam B and a cam A, for moving a slide 51 carrying a work-holder 52, are rotated by a motor M through worm-gearing, 15 and a shaft 13. The work-holder is moved towards the tool by pneumatic means J and is returned by the cam A. A switch C is actuated after one revolution of the cams to stop the motor M. The motor H may rotate a number of tool spindles and the slide 51 may carry an equal number of work-holders.
