Abstract

762,637. Wall and like brackets. LARSEN, T. Aug. 5, 1954 [Aug. 7, 1953], No. 22794/54. Class 52 (5). In an ironing board &c. comprising a board member having, at one end, a bracket detachably mountable on a carrier member attached to a wall, and a supporting leg adjustable in length and secured to the board at a point spaced from the end carrying the bracket, the carrier member consists of a vertical rail having a longitudinal row of apertures to receive spaced hooks on the bracket. As shown, a bracket 11 screwed to the board 10 has spaced hooks 12, 13 engaging, with no lateral clearance, cross-shaped apertures 18 in a channel rail 14 welded to a sheet metal member 15 secured to a wall 17. Abutments 26 on the hooks engage the rear surface of the rail and, to prevent angular displacement of the board, the hooks may be spaced to engage non-adjacent apertures and clamping screws provided to abut the end surface of the board on the wall. A locking hook 25 is also provided. An arm 31 of an adjustable iron stand 30 is pivoted to the board and a telescopic supporting leg 19 having a non-slip ferrule 24 is pivotally mounted midway along the board and occupies the alternative positions shown in Fig. 2. In modifications the carrier rail is recessed into the wall and a work table for heavy loads has a U-shaped leg the limbs of which are individually adjustable in length.
