Abstract

Ni - Si alloys having good resistance to corrosion by sulphuric acid and good resistance to failure by mechanical or thermal shock have compositions within the following range. .Si.4 - 10.per cent .Ta.2 - 25.per cent .Cu.0 - 4.per cent .Fe.0 - 15.per cent Ni and incidental impurities the remainder. The compositions may be modified by the addition of Al up to 3 per cent in which case the content of Ta and Fe is at least 5 per cent in total. Up to half the Ta may be replaced by Nb the content of Ta and Fe being maintained at not less than 5 per cent.
